Eagle Wings

Ex. 19:4 (NIV) ‘You yourselves have seen what I did to Egypt, and how I carried you on eagles’ wings and brought you to myself.

"Eagle wing power as revealed in the Scriptures is a symbol of the Holy Spirit in His manifestation to the people of God as a deliverer.

Isa 63:9-10 (NIV) In all their distress he too was distressed, and the angel of his presence saved them. In his love and mercy he redeemed them; he lifted them up and carried them all the days of old.

The significance of eagle wing power in the case of Israel’s escape from the power of the oppressive Egypt is shown in the covering of the blood of the sprinkled blood from the Passover lamb.

This protection carried them through the Red Sea and guided them through the wilderness for forty years. The deliverance power fed them with manna in the wilderness and gave them water from the rock. Their clothes did not wear out nor was sickness found among them.

Deu 32:11 (NIV) like an eagle that stirs up its nest and hovers over its young, that spreads its wings to catch them and carries them on its pinions.

Here the Lord is likened to a great eagle as he hovers over His children.

Isa 40:31 (NIV) but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

All these references speak of the work of the Holy Spirit.

The final use of eagle is found in Rev 12:14.

Rev 12:14 (NIV) The woman was given the two wings of a great eagle, so that she might fly to the place prepared for her in the desert, where she would be taken care of for a time, times and half a time, out of the serpent’s reach.

The same power that carried Israel out of Egypt will also carry the perfected church into the wilderness so that she will be protected from the terrors of the great tribulation.

The type of an eagle is fitting … An eagle protects its young with its own body. So Christ protects His saints.

The eagle has great courage. It also uses wisdom in taking its prey and it flies very high seeing things from afar. It is an enemy of the serpent.
